Reindeer safari

Be a reindeer herder for a day!
In this adventure you will get to experience what it takes to look after a reindeer herd!
We will drive with snowmobiles from our home, and to the mountains.
We will herd the reindeers, and you'll see one of our herding dogs in action.
There are no fences in the winter to keep the herd in places, so it's up to us to herd and keep them where they should.
Once we have gathered up the herd, we will enjoy the view with some local food and coffee.
There will also be a lavvu where you can step inside to warm and enjoy a cozy bonfire.
NB! From December til mid April this adventure will be available in Kautokeino, after that we will move our herd to the coast of Northern Troms, and we'll welcome you in Kvænangen the rest of the season.
Feed the herd
April - May *
Come join us to give the herd food!
Starting in April we go two times a day to give the herd pellets and hay.
We do this to give them extra strength to the upcoming spring migration, and also for the ladies who are getting ready to meet their calves in May.
This happens each morning and evening.
This is a unique chance to come really close to the reindeers, and they will be very happy to meet you!
If you want, you can participate in handing out the food, and sit on the food sled going around the herd. Some reindeers might even want to come and eat from your hands.
It is also possible to spend the night with the herd.
The herd will gather around your camp, and you might fall asleep to the sound of them roaming around you.
Check out our camp adventure for more information.
*this might start sooner in the winter. Depending on the snow conditions.
